THE PROJECT
LifeStriders, a non-profit organization focused on providing integrative and nature-based therapies to those with physical, emotional, and cognitive special needs, sought a partner to support important capital improvement projects. Since 2022, Ford has worked with the organization to construct a new multi-use hay barn while planning for an office facelift and expansion, and discussing future additions to the property.

The construction of the barn accommodated several organizational needs while addressing site challenges. The structure was strategically built into the side of the hill to resolve both retaining wall and stormwater issues. A wood deck above the basement provides proper storage conditions for the hay. Furthermore, the building design includes a 24-foot lean-to shelter, creating a spacious viewing area and setting for outdoor classes and activities.
Construction is in progress on the office remodel and expansion to better reflect LifeStriders’ brand and the community it serves. In addition to elevating interior finishes, the refreshed plan features a dedicated reception area, two offices, a conference room, a new kitchen, and updates to support on-site medical needs.
