Making something old new again. Ford helps give an old building new purpose.

THE PROJECT

For people who like to build, invent, tinker and learn new skills, Milwaukee Makerspace is an environment with all the equipment needed to make things 24/7. From electronics and woodworking to metal work, art, sewing and more, this is a place to tackle that project you have always wanted to—without having to buy all of the tools yourself. The concept has been so successful that the group is expanding by opening a second location. In the true nature of their business, they acquired a building that is a project in and of itself—a 45,000-sq.ft. abandoned avionics equipment manufacturing facility. After standing idle for 13 years, it needed new life and the City of St. Francis has been a big supporter of this restoration effort. Ford Construction—with the help of the Makers—is repurposing this building in a purposeful way. Ford is enjoying this unique collaboration, working with the Makers to make this old building new again.
